About The Position

The Mental Health Worker provides direct behavioral health patient care in an adolescent psychiatric setting at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. The role supports patients with daily activities, care procedures, and therapeutic interventions while observing and reporting on patient behavior and condition. The worker collaborates with a supervising RN and teammates to deliver individualized, timely care, promote patient comfort and safety, and support efficient departmental operations.

Requirements

Certified BLS Provider credential from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, obtained within 3 months (90 days) of hire or job transfer.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree preferred.
Behavioral health experience preferred.
College courses in psychology preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist patients with performing activities of daily living.
Provide or assist with direct patient care, diagnostic procedures, and therapeutic interventions.
Observe and record patient behavior and activities.
Report changes in patient condition and suggest modifications to the treatment plan.
Establish a therapeutic relationship with assigned patients.
Review assignments with the supervising RN and seek clarification when expectations are unclear.
Maintain open communication with teammates regarding progress on assignments.
Provide care appropriate to behavioral health patients in a timely and individualized manner.
Perform tasks and services that optimize patient satisfaction and comfort.
Promote patient safety in a manner that prevents injury.
Contribute to efficient departmental operations to control costs and ensure productivity.
Perform other duties as assigned.
