About The Position

The Mental Health Worker provides support to inpatient psychiatric patients under the direction and supervision of an RN, LVN, or Charge RN. The role assists licensed nursing staff with providing and documenting patient care, including help with activities of daily living. The worker supports unit operations, helps maintain a safe and clean environment for patients, visitors, and coworkers, and contributes as an integral member of the interdisciplinary care team by communicating relevant patient information to the supervising RN. The position also performs assigned clerical duties and provides basic nursing care for adult and geriatric patients. Responsibilities must be performed in accordance with Nursing Structure Standards, hospital and nursing policies, and applicable state regulatory and accrediting requirements.

Requirements

• If working as a CNA, hold a current and valid Certified Nursing Assistant license issued by the state.
• If not a CNA, hospital Mental Health Worker experience is preferred.
• Obtain BLS within 30 days of hire and maintain current certification.

Nice To Haves

• One year of prior mental health experience.
• Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology.
• At least one year of experience working as a Mental Health Worker in a hospital setting if not a CNA.

Responsibilities
