A key component of their success is the dedicated Mental Health Technician (MHT) staff, who balance empathy, education, and expectation communication. La Amistad offers various tracks for MHT staff, including PRN, Full-Time, and a MHT Career/Clinical Track. MHTs work directly with assigned client populations, prioritizing client safety through robust programming and detailed observations (Q-15s).

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
Demonstrates the ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
Clear background from criminal activity.
Extensive walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs.
Must be able to lift over fifty (50 lbs.) pounds.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field preferred.
Experience in a psychiatric hospital setting as a MHT working with children, adolescents and/or adults.
License/Certification: Not required.

Responsibilities

Assists and monitors client’s activities of daily living.
Consistently demonstrates an alert, sensitive and supportive attitude with clients, families, employees, and management.
Interacts therapeutically with clients in one-to-one situations, community and group meetings.
Has a basic understanding of common psychiatric diagnoses.
Has professional boundaries with clients and demonstrates the ability to be an effective communicator.
