About The Position

River Park Hospital is hiring a full-time Mental Health Technician for a 40-hour workweek. The position is based at River Park Hospital, a 165-bed behavioral health facility in Huntington, West Virginia, serving children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. The hospital also operates a 22-bed residential treatment program for children and adolescents and a 25-bed adult forensic unit. The role includes a $2,500 sign-on bonus, paid in increments of $500 after three months, $1,000 after six months, and $1,000 after 12 months.

The Mental Health Technician supports patient care by developing therapeutic relationships, protecting patient confidentiality, helping ensure safe and quality care, and meeting patients’ learning needs. The technician conducts routine and heightened-observation rounds, interacts therapeutically to help de-escalate crises, and contributes as a respectful and effective member of the patient care team.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

• Six months of experience in a mental health setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a therapeutic relationship throughout the healthcare continuum.
• Help assure and improve quality care by supporting patients’ and families’ rights to safe, quality, and cost-effective care.
• Maintain and protect confidentiality regarding all aspects of patient care and information.
• Address patients’ learning needs using appropriate resources to support positive outcomes.
• Conduct patient rounds for routine and heightened observation status.
• Interact therapeutically to decrease crises in the patient care setting.
• Demonstrate respect and understanding for patients, peers, and other clinical disciplines, and participate effectively as a member of the patient care team.
