About The Position
The Mental Health Technician provides patient care under the direction of the Charge Nurse or Registered Nurse. The role assists patients with activities of daily living and admission and discharge procedures. The Technician leads or co-facilitates patient groups, orients new patients to the unit environment, completes safety and location checks for patients, and performs other care functions assigned by the Charge Nurse. Additional duties may be assigned within the scope of the role.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician certification, or equivalent experience.
- BLS certification is required.
- Stable physical and mental health.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to cope frequently with stressful or rapidly changing situations.
- Knowledge of body mechanics, basic safety, and principles of physical care and comfort.
- Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
Nice To Haves
- CNA or PCT certification preferred.
- Medical terminology training preferred.
- Additional certifications, such as Secure, may be required depending on the assigned area.
