About The Position

TriStar Centennial Medical Center is seeking a Mental Health Technician to support comprehensive patient care and maintain a therapeutic, safe environment. The role involves assisting patients with activities of daily living, escorting them to scheduled activities, performing assigned skills such as monitoring vital signs, and documenting observations and baseline measurements in medical records. The technician also helps maintain unit cleanliness and support services, and may maintain filing and paperwork systems when assigned by the Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse. The position requires respectful handling of patient rights and information, effective communication with patients and program staff, and appropriate telephone etiquette.

Requirements

• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Promote mental health and help maintain high-quality, comprehensive patient care.
• Respect patients’ integrity, information, and rights.
• Perform tasks necessary to maintain a therapeutic milieu and optimum patient care.
• Escort patients safely and professionally to and from scheduled activities.
• Perform assigned skills, including accurately monitoring vital signs.
• Help maintain the cleanliness of the unit.
• Maintain effective interpersonal relationships with program staff.
• Answer telephones with appropriate etiquette, accurately record messages, and pass them to appropriate staff, including patient inquiries.
• Maintain support services necessary for effective program operation.
• Maintain unit filing and paperwork systems when assigned by the Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living.
• Help maintain a safe environment.
• Document observations and baseline measurements in medical records.
