About The Position

The Mental Health Technician (ARDOC) provides mental health services to patients within a facility under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor. The role involves conducting assessments, providing therapy, supporting patients in their recovery, and consulting with and training facility personnel to improve understanding of mental health issues and effective patient support. The position serves incarcerated patients and requires maintaining confidentiality, applying sound judgment, and working effectively under stress.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a mental health or social science field from an accredited college or university; relevant professional experience, training, and certifications may be considered in lieu of education on a case-by-case basis.
• Maintain CPR certification and any other certifications, such as First Aid, required by contract.
• Reside in the United States.

Nice To Haves

• Coursework and professional experience indicating knowledge of correctional settings, mental health interventions, identification of mental health issues, crisis intervention, and mental health consultation.

Responsibilities

• Provide mental health services and conduct regular mental health checks and rounds under the direction of a licensed Mental Health Professional and in accordance with relevant professional organizations and state guidelines.
• Provide psycho-social-educational programming and activities for groups and individuals to improve social, cognitive, problem-solving, and daily living skills.
• Triage mental health concerns of incarcerated patients and provide consultation services as assigned.
• Participate in release continuity-of-care planning for patients.
• Train staff in human behavior and mental health issues.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and interact effectively with patients, staff, and outside support agencies.
• Comply with facility employee standards, apply critical thinking and sound judgment, and work under stress.
