About The Position

Glen Oaks Hospital is a 54-bed private mental health hospital in Greenville, Texas, serving adults and seniors in a comfortable, homelike setting. Its multidisciplinary staff includes psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and therapists, and has provided mental health and chemical dependency care for over 40 years. The Mental Health Technician (MHT) helps ensure patient safety and is an active member of the treatment team. The role provides continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging from preschool age through geriatrics, depending on the assigned unit. The MHT works under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The schedule is 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., five shifts per week, with rotating weekends. Overtime and varied hours may be required.

Requirements

High school degree or equivalent required.
Maintain a valid driver's license in the applicable state.
Successfully complete Handle with Care (HWC), Verbal De-escalation, and CPR before unit orientation and before assisting with restraining procedures.
May be required to work overtime and varied hours.

Nice To Haves

Certified Nurse Aide certification preferred.
Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy, or an appropriate therapeutic discipline preferred.
Two years of related experience preferred, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness.

Responsibilities
