About The Position

Millwood Hospital, a 134-bed mental health facility in Arlington, Texas, provides inpatient and outpatient mental health and chemical dependency treatment to patients ranging from children to senior adults. The Mental Health Technician (MHT) ensures patient safety and serves as an active member of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling. MHTs work under the direction of a Registered Nurse. This position is assigned to the PICU unit and is scheduled for days, typically 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.; shifts may vary. The employee must be available for the full hospital and departmental orientations: Week 1, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Week 2, Monday and Tuesday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Requirements

High school degree or equivalent is required.
Maintain a valid driver's license in the applicable state.
Complete Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training before unit orientation and before assisting with restraining procedures.
Obtain American Red Cross or American Heart Association certification in CPR before taking an independent patient assignment.
Be available to attend the full hospital and departmental orientations.
May be asked to work overtime and flexible hours.

Nice To Haves

Certified Nursing Assistant certification is preferred.
A degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy, or an appropriate therapeutic discipline is preferred.
Two years of related experience, knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques, and understanding of mental illness are preferred.
