About The Position
Wolfson Children’s Hospital is seeking a Mental Health Technician for its Behavioral Health Unit, working in the pediatric unit at the hospital’s downtown Jacksonville location. This full-time night position is scheduled from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. The technician provides care under the direction of a Registered Nurse, supporting patient safety, comfort, and a therapeutic environment. The role also includes documenting observations, communicating relevant information about patient condition, assisting with patient education groups and milieu supervision, and helping with admissions and discharges as assigned. CPI Certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire. Positions designated as requiring a level II background screening are subject to fingerprint-based state and national criminal history screening as a condition of employment and continued employment.
Requirements
- Behavioral Health experience.
- High school diploma.
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Crisis Prevention Certification (CPI); must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse while considering safety, comfort, and the therapeutic environment.
- Document observations on assigned patients.
- Communicate appropriate information regarding patients’ conditions.
- Assist with patient education groups.
- Provide total milieu supervision.
- Assist with admissions and discharges as assigned.
