About The Position

The Mental Health Technician (MHT/CNA) works under direct supervision to provide patient care in the treatment and care of patients with psychiatric and substance abuse conditions. Manages behavioral problems and facilitates education and activity groups. Actively participates as a member of the treatment team and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
One (1) year of customer service experience required.
Ability to pass a Level II AHCA background screening.
Ability to work 12 hour shifts, 6:45a-7:15pm
Employment with Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital requires successful completion of a Level II background Screening.

Nice To Haves

Associate's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field preferred.
One (1) year experience in a direct patient care role preferred.

Responsibilities

Observes patients to detect behavior patterns. Documents and reports observations to Charge Nurse or appropriate staff.
Takes and records measures of patients’ general physical condition, such as pulse, temperature, blood pressure and respiration. Notifies Charge Nurse or appropriate staff of abnormal values.
Facilitates patient education and activity groups.
Assists the patient with ADLs and personal needs (i.e., management of clothing and property; grooming).
Uses approved verbal and physical de-escalation techniques.
Escorts patients to meals, breaks, and other activities.
Promotes a therapeutic environment.
Ensures safety of patients at all times.
Performs EKG’s and Phlebotomy based on training.
