About The Position
The Mental Health Technician functions as an assistant to the nurse in Inpatient Psychiatry under the direct supervision of the R.N. The role supports maintenance of a therapeutic and safe environment, maintains therapeutic relationships with patients in support of treatment goals, and assists with delivery of direct patient care. The technician monitors and intervenes in the environment to provide a safe, therapeutic milieu. The position provides nursing support to advance the organization's mission of excellent patient care and nursing's vision of excellence in autonomous and accountable nursing practice, patient advocacy, and innovative care in a climate of trust and collaboration. This PRN position is based in Gainesville, Florida. The schedule and days are variable, with an FTE of 0.10.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- If the candidate has no college experience, at least one year of behavioral health experience in an inpatient psychiatric or addiction medicine setting, or experience as a CNA, EMT, or equivalent in a related medical setting.
- Successfully pass an AHCA Level 2 screening.
Nice To Haves
- At least one year of college experience in Behavioral Health, Allied Health, Psychology, Social Sciences, or a related field.
