About The Position

Three Trails Behavioral Hospital in Independence, MO is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Technician (MHT) to join their team. This role involves direct work with patients experiencing behavioral health challenges, ensuring their safety, supporting treatment plans, and promoting a positive therapeutic environment. The new hospital, expected to open in the second half of 2026, will serve children, adolescents, adults, and seniors with innovative, evidence-based inpatient behavioral healthcare. It aims to create over 200 new full-time jobs and will be located at the intersection of I-70 and Little Blue Parkway, spanning over 88,000 square feet with an activity yard and gym. Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and observational skills
• Must be able to manage challenging behaviors with professionalism and empathy
• Current BLS/CPR certification or ability to obtain upon hire
• Ability to work 12 hour shifts, 7:00am-7:30pm.

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field
• Previous experience in behavioral health, psychiatric care, or healthcare setting

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and supervision in a behavioral health setting
• Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment at all times
• Conduct routine patient safety checks and observations
• Support patients with daily living activities as appropriate
• Respond appropriately to situations and behavioral escalations
• Collaborate with nursing and clinical staff to support patient care plans.
