About The Position
Lake Behavioral Hospital is hiring a full-time Mental Health Technician to provide continuous care, supervision, and positive role modeling to patients across various age groups. Working under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, the technician contributes to a therapeutic environment that supports patient well-being and the treatment process. The role is based at the hospital in Waukegan, Illinois, and is scheduled for days, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The stated compensation range is $17.00–$23.00 per hour, with a $400 sign-on bonus and shift differentials. Lake Behavioral Hospital is a 161-bed acute care facility serving adolescents, adults, and families through specialized inpatient programs and outpatient services. Its multidisciplinary team includes psychiatrists, licensed therapists, nurses, and support staff. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or Certified Nursing Assistant qualification.
- May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
Nice To Haves
- A degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy, or an appropriate therapeutic discipline.
- One year of related experience.
- Knowledge of psychiatric patient-care techniques and understanding of mental illness.
Responsibilities
- Accurately record patients’ vital signs.
- Use judgment in patient interactions and report changes to the Registered Nurse.
- Follow therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team and provide information to support their development and revision.
- Use crisis-intervention techniques, conduct MHT-led groups, and apply facility-approved CPI techniques.
- Assist patients with discharge, adjustment to life changes, and personal hygiene.
- Follow policies to maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment, practice universal precautions, and respond to patient-care priorities.
