The Mental Health Promotion Specialist position is a temporary part-time contract (12-18 month maternity leave) and can be located in either Chatham or Sarnia. Reporting to the Director of Fund Development and Communications, the incumbent will be responsible for organizing and leading fundraising and public awareness campaigns, implementing educational events, promoting agency programs, enhancing social media engagement for public awareness, and providing information and referrals related to mental health. The role requires strong problem-solving and communication skills, along with the ability to build community partnerships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Health or Health Studies, Master's Degree in Public Health or Bachelor's Degree in Health Sciences.
  • Knowledge and understanding of serious mental illness that is usually gain by experience working with this population.
  • Valid Ontario Driver's Licence and access to a vehicle is required.
  • Strong problem solving and excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with community partners.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, lead, and participate in fundraising and public awareness through various campaigns.
  • scheduling, organizing, and implementing seminars, educational series, presentations, workshops and special events for target populations.
  • promoting community awareness of agency programs and services through presentations.
  • improving the use of social media in public awareness activities.
  • providing information pertaining to agency activities and mental health topics/issues and making referrals to appropriate services, as required.
