About The Position

This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Columbia Area Mental Health Center, Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Program, CAMHC #413. As the Mental Health Professional II, working under general supervision, you will provide clinical leadership and oversight to the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Program and manage team operations and staffing.

Requirements

  • A master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social science or related field, and professional experience in a mental health, human service or social service program.
  • Three (3) years' experience working with adults diagnosed with serious and persistent mental illness and a minimum of two years post graduate experience.
  • Licensed as a psychologist, LISW, LISW-CP, LMFT, or LPC in the state of South Carolina (SC).
  • Applicants must provide evidence of clinical experience providing direct patient care. This experience may be documented as a practicum or internship during graduate program, or post-graduate clinical experience.
  • Have practical therapeutic knowledge of principles, methods and counseling practices and procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of serious and persistent mental illness.
  • Have the ability to listen, understand and communicate information and ideas so that others will understand.
  • Have some knowledge of psychopathology, family dynamics, family and group psychotherapy.
  • Have the ability to identify and effectively utilize resources available in the community to accomplish objectives.
  • Have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, families and representatives of other professional disciplines.
  • Have the ability to present clear and comprehensive oral and written reports.
  • Have the ability to organize and manage time.
  • Be able to pass CPR and Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS) Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory experience.
  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the administrative operations of the ACT team.
  • Provide clinical oversight of services ensuring patients are seen in accordance with their needs and the delivery of best and ethical practices.
  • Provide direct services to ACT service beneficiaries.
  • Ensure services are documented in accordance to Office of Mental Health (OMH) Quality Assurance (QA) requirements.
  • Provide direct supervision to ACT team members to include but not limited to: facilitating clinical supervision meetings, treatment team meetings, coordinating training for team and completing evaluations.
  • Respond to telephone messages, emails, team messages, and inter-office mail in a timely manner.
  • Comply with the Office of Mental Health Compliance Plan and all legal responsibilities and requirements in performing their job duties.
