This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Aiken Barnwell Mental Health Center, 1135 Gregg Highway, Aiken, SC 29801. This position is based in the Community. The Mental Health Professional II / Chief / ACT Program (Aiken) will provide clinical leadership and oversight to the Assertive Community Treatment Program and manages team operations and staffing.

Requirements

  • A Masters’ degree in guidance, counseling, or the social sciences or a related field and professional experience in a mental health, human service, or social service program.
  • Must be licensed as licensed psychologist, LISW-CP, LPC or LMFT.
  • Three year's experience working with adults diagnosed with serious and persistent mental illness and a minimum of two years post graduate experience.
  • Ability to lift 5 pounds and operate a state vehicle.

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory experience.
  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the administrative operations of the team.
  • Provide clinical oversight of services ensuring patients are seen in accordance with their needs and the delivery of best and ethical practices.
  • Provide direct services to ACT service beneficiaries.
  • Ensure services are documented in accordance with SCBHDD/QA requirements.
  • Provide direct supervision to ACT team members to include but not limited to facilitate clinical supervision meetings, treatment team meetings, coordinating training for team and completing evaluations.
  • Ensure a department commitment to cultural affairs and ensure all direct reports have a cultural affairs component to his or her planning document as a measurable objective.
  • Comply with Corporate Compliance Policy and Risk Management Plan and ensure timely completion of prior authorizations.
  • Pursue professional development through collegial consultation, continuing education and licensure.
  • Have practical therapeutic knowledge of principles, methods and counseling practices and procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of serious and persistent mental illness.
  • Have the ability to listen and understand and communicate information and ideas so that others will understand.
  • Have knowledge of psychopathology, family dynamics, family and group psychotherapy.
  • Have the ability to identify and effectively utilize resources available in the community to accomplish objectives.
  • Have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, families and representatives of other professional disciplines.
  • Have the ability to present clear and comprehensive oral and written reports.
  • Have the ability to organize and manage time.
  • Have experience/skills/knowledge in provision of services, assessment, interviewing techniques.
  • Have a high degree of independence, self-motivation & cultural sensitivity will be expected.
  • This position will receive supervision from an assigned supervisor.
  • Employee's activities are governed by SCBHDD and ABMHC policy and procedure.
  • Be able to pass CPR and Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS) Certification.
  • Position is essential and may be called back during crises/disasters/emergencies.
  • Position will be part of the Assertive Community Treatment Team and Requires flexible schedule.
  • Services are delivered in the community.
