About The Position
Brook Lane is seeking a part-time Mental Health Associate for an overnight shift. The role supports patients of all ages as part of a psychiatric care team, fostering safety, stability, and a supportive environment where healing can begin. Direct mental health experience is not required; transferable skills from education, human services, coaching, customer support, caregiving, and related areas may be relevant. The position offers hands-on behavioral health experience and opportunities to develop therapeutic skills while supporting patients and families.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- Strong communication skills and sound judgment.
- Ability to remain calm, compassionate, and grounded in challenging situations.
- Basic to moderate computer skills.
- Current BLS (CPR) certification or willingness to obtain it.
- Be present on-site during scheduled shifts.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in a social science.
- Prior mental health or human services experience.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Responsibilities
- Build therapeutic rapport with patients and families.
- Provide direct care with compassion, patience, and professionalism.
- Observe and document patient behavior to support clinical decision-making.
- Respond to patient needs and assist with behavioral interventions.
- Help maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment.
- Lead or assist with therapeutic programming, including Theme of the Day activities.
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and other team members.
- Support new staff during orientation.
- Use age-appropriate, respectful, and culturally sensitive interactions.
- Uphold unit rules and organizational policies with clarity and respect.
