MEMS Deposition Process Engineer

HP•Corvallis, OR
•$83,000 - $127,800

About The Position

The MEMS Deposition Process Engineer is a technical leader in the MEMS organization and serves as the technical owner of the Dielectric Deposition Process and tooling. The role sustains existing technology, supports the transition of products and manufacturing processes from prototype to full production, and develops processes for new product introductions and technology development. The engineer applies equipment and process technology, along with problem-solving methodologies, to improve manufacturing performance, shorten prototype learning cycles, and enable next-generation technology. The engineer partners with worldwide work-center counterparts, Operations, Integration Engineering, Product Engineering, management, and internal and outsourced development partners. The position specifies and procures tooling and equipment to meet assurance-of-supply and throughput needs through the capital expenditure process, and participates actively in the MEMS quality system. The role also leads work-center improvement and project activities, communicates project status and issue resolution, and mentors less-experienced staff.

Requirements

  • Four-year or graduate degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related discipline.
  • Typically 2–5 years of work experience, preferably in wafer or package fab process engineering.
  • Experience in process development, stabilization, sustaining, and quality systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD) or related deposition processes is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in wafer or package fab process engineering is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as technical owner of the Dielectric Deposition Process and tooling.
  • Use Design of Experiment methodology to characterize process space and develop new production processes; create test plans to validate processes.
  • Qualify new production processes using organizational change management procedures in partnership with engineering and operations stakeholders.
  • Specify new tooling and capital equipment purchases needed for work-center assurance of supply.
  • Lead the work center and drive improvements in process sustaining, quality, equipment and capacity, and process development.
  • Apply technical judgment, creativity, initiative, and attention to detail.
  • Collaborate and communicate with management, worldwide engineering partners, and internal and outsourced development partners about status, project progress, and issue resolution.
  • Lead project teams of process engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost-effective, high-quality solutions for moderately complex products.
  • Represent the work-center team in all phases of larger and more complex development projects.
  • Solve difficult and complex problems, select creative solutions, and manage projects independently.
  • Deliver professionally written reports and support operational and strategic plans.
  • Guide and mentor less-experienced staff members.
