About The Position

The Memory Care Director plans, organizes, develops, and leads the overall operation of the memory care unit in accordance with federal, state, and local laws. The director works with the Activities Director to ensure appropriate activities are available throughout the day and evening and that Care Managers actively participate. The role also designs, schedules, and facilitates the memory care program, including Life Skills and dementia-appropriate activities, builds a cooperative relationship with a local Alzheimer’s Association chapter or another Alzheimer’s advisory organization, plans and facilitates monthly family support group meetings, and supervises C.N.A.s in the memory care unit.

Requirements

• One year of management experience in dementia care.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities.
• Ability to delegate assignments.
• Competence in organizational and time management skills.
• Good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, develop, and lead the overall operation of the memory care unit in accordance with federal, state, and local laws.
• Partner with the Activities Director to ensure a variety of appropriate activities are available throughout the day and evening and that Care Managers are actively involved and engaged.
• Design, schedule, and facilitate the memory care unit program, incorporating Life Skills and a variety of dementia-appropriate activities.
• Establish a cooperative relationship with the local Alzheimer’s Association chapter or another Alzheimer’s advisory organization.
• Ensure monthly family support group meetings are planned and facilitated.
• Supervise C.N.A.s in the memory care unit.
