About The Position

Under the supervision of the Unit Director, the Membership Director will oversee the day-to-day operations and personnel of the Front Desk as part of an overall strategy to retain and grow Clubhouse membership. Applicant will possess a strong set of customer service and communications skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and functions aligned with the mission of Wakeman Boys & Girls Club membership policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • A degree in communications, business management or recreation management or comparable experience in customer service and sales.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Multitasking in a distracting, active youth-oriented environment.
  • Cultural competency.
  • Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.
  • Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities.
  • Basic accounting/database knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Adobe & other marketing software applications.
  • Customer service experience.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certified.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual Spanish speaking strongly preferred
  • Non-profit experience as a staff member or volunteer is also preferred.
  • Driver's license with the availability to obtain a public passenger endorsement and CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implements membership strategies that support recruitment of new members and retention of existing members.
  • Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  • Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs staff and volunteers as needed.
  • Reviews and evaluates staff performance.
  • Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Provides exceptional members service at the front desk, performing all duties required of the rest of the team, approximately 40 hour work week.
  • Working with the Database Administrator, provides and maintains systems for accurate data entry and timely submission of program registration and membership paperwork, statistics, data and reports.
  • Working with the Director of Community Engagement, supports social media and marketing efforts for the clubhouse and organization.
  • Serves as the primary point person for general Membership & Program inquires, registration & member feedback.
  • Promotes program and membership enrollment in interactions with existing and potential members.
  • Coordinates with Program Directors on program specifics and registration details.
  • Plans and executes membership campaigns to maximize enrollments.
  • Develops and manages department budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Develops and meets membership goals and takes appropriate action to correct variances.
  • Ensures proper implementation of Front Desk procedures and risk management guidelines.
  • Reviews and updates desk procedures and communicates changes to staff.
  • Coordinates with the Database Manager and CFO as necessary on financial transactions.
  • Organizes membership events and represents the Club at community events to promote WBGC.
  • Manage payroll related transactions and monitor for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assists in Club fundraising activities and special events.
  • Actively participates in staff meetings and/or related trainings.
  • Plan, implement and supervise occasional youth programs and facility activities.
