About The Position

In cooperation with the Site Director, this role oversees and monitors the daily atmosphere and physical premises of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Illinois Satellite site. The position provides assistance and supervision to program participants, ensuring each child is properly signed in and out daily and that participants are in the correct locations at all times. This role also involves specific security guard duties to ensure a safe and orderly environment.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of youth development.
  • Ability to motivate and provide guidance to youth through establishing positive relationships.
  • Demonstrated caring and respect exhibited toward participants.
  • Ability to organize and supervise participants to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Ability to relate to the general public, parents, and B&GCS participants in a friendly, positive, and professional manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to convey B&GCS policies and procedures to participants, and to implement appropriate guidance and discipline policies.
  • Valid Illinois Driver’s License.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm, energy, and commitment in personal contact with participants, parents, supervisors, and the general public.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle preferred (with valid IL driver’s license).

Responsibilities

  • Assist program staff with disruptive or behaviorally challenged students.
  • Monitor students receiving disciplinary action or removed from classrooms.
  • Ensure all participants are signed in and out daily and that documentation is accurate.
  • Implement guidance and discipline policies for participants and maintain standards of conduct.
  • Assist with record maintenance related to participant discipline and development.
  • Recommend new program offerings and create plans for their initiation.
  • Identify prospective community resources and volunteers.
  • Assist in implementing special events and activities for participants to exhibit skills.
  • Provide special guidance and development for assigned participants.
  • Develop and implement opportunities for participant involvement in outside programs and activities.
  • Plan, implement, and lead field trips that complement program activities.
  • Represent the organization and interpret its policies, objectives, standards, and programs to participants, parents, community organizations, and the public.
  • Promote and stimulate participant knowledge of and interest in Boys & Girls Clubs programs and activities.
  • Help maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the facility by encouraging participant involvement.
  • Assist with activities in other program areas as assigned.
  • Assist parents in finding the location of their child at pick up.
  • Assist staff with transitioning children between activities.
  • Work with staff to ensure children needing bus transportation are placed on the correct bus.
  • Assist Site Director and other staff with additional duties as assigned.
  • Track daily attendance and the whereabouts of participants.
  • Help Site Director and other staff to diffuse escalating situations between participants or parents.
