About The Position

The Colorado Intergovernmental Risk Sharing Agency (CIRSA) is seeking a Member Recruitment & Retention Specialist. CIRSA is a self-insurance pool providing property/liability and workers’ compensation coverage and risk management services for Colorado municipalities and affiliated public entities. This is a hybrid position requiring occasional office presence in Denver and approximately 40% travel across Colorado. The role offers flexibility to work from home or the Denver office. The specialist will focus on recruiting new members for CIRSA’s pools and retaining existing members through engagement activities. They will also collaborate on risk management content creation and attend CIRSA events.

Requirements

  • 3-4 years of experience in public entity pooling, insurance underwriting, risk management, municipal safety or risk management, or a related field.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proper English usage, editing, spelling, grammar, writing styles, and punctuation.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience with the government RFP and procurement processes and submission of proposals.
  • Strong analytical skills – ability to translate financial data, actuarial information, and coverage information into layperson terms and presentation materials.
  • Creativity and adaptability.
  • Proficiency with computer, especially MS Office.
  • A valid driver’s license, as travel is required (up to 40%).
  • Ability to lift 40lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Insurance industry experience, ideally in the self-insurance pooling sector.
  • Advanced knowledge of underwriting and risk management principals.
  • Associate in Risk Management (ARM).
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or Canva for designing promotional materials.
  • Proficiency with Origami Risk and DOMO.

Responsibilities

  • Research and conduct outreach to potential new members for CIRSA’s property/casualty and workers’ compensation pools.
  • Assist prospective members in completing applications and gathering necessary documentation.
  • Coordinate with CIRSA’s General Counsel to confirm eligibility requirements for new members.
  • Monitor BidNet for RFPs and coordinate proposal submissions.
  • Recruit non-member entities to use CIRSA’s à la carte risk management services.
  • Collaborate to identify, establish, and implement member retention activities to achieve full member retention and high member satisfaction.
  • Monitor and assess developments indicating the need for retention efforts and develop plans to ameliorate retention risks.
  • Visit members in-person or virtually to communicate coverage and rating changes, introduce new programs, verify contact information, and address policy and coverage questions.
  • Ensure CIRSA’s database (Origami Risk) is up to date.
  • Verify and process members’ access requests to the CIRSA’s website and claims portal (Origami Risk).
  • Leverage insights from member visits, events, and industry research to collaborate on the creation of engaging risk management content for various platforms (events, webinars, email, newsletters, blogs).
  • Travel to regional seminars and safety courses hosted or sponsored by CIRSA to communicate CIRSA’s offerings and benefits.
