About The Position

The Colorado Intergovernmental Risk Sharing Agency (CIRSA) is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented professional with member engagement and insurance industry experience, ideally in self-insurance pooling. CIRSA is a self-insurance pool providing property/liability and workers’ compensation coverage and risk management services for municipalities and affiliated public entities in Colorado. This is a hybrid position requiring occasional office presence in Denver and travel across Colorado (approx. 40%). It offers flexibility to work from home or the Denver office.

Requirements

  • 3-4 years of experience in public entity pooling, insurance underwriting, risk management, municipal safety or risk management, or a related field.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including proper English usage, editing, spelling, grammar, writing styles, and punctuation.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Advanced knowledge of underwriting and risk management principles.
  • Strong analytical skills – ability to translate financial data, actuarial information, and coverage information into layperson terms and presentation materials.
  • Creativity and adaptability.
  • Proficiency with computers, especially MS Office.
  • A valid driver’s license, as travel is required (up to 40%).
  • Ability to lift 40lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the government RFP and procurement processes and submission of proposals.
  • Associate in Risk Management (ARM).
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or Canva for designing promotional materials.
  • Proficiency with Origami Risk and DOMO.

Responsibilities

  • Research and conduct outreach to potential new members for CIRSA’s property/casualty and workers’ compensation pools, assisting prospective members with applications and documentation, and coordinating with General Counsel to confirm eligibility.
  • Monitor BidNet for RFPs and coordinate submissions, and recruit non-member entities for à la carte risk management services.
  • Collaborate to identify, establish, and implement member retention activities, monitor developments indicating retention needs, and develop plans to mitigate retention risks.
  • Visit members in-person or virtually to communicate coverage and rating changes, introduce new programs, verify contact information, and address policy and coverage questions.
  • Ensure CIRSA’s database (Origami Risk) is up to date and process members’ access requests to the CIRSA’s website and claims portal (Origami Risk).
  • Collaborate with internal Risk Management professionals on the creation of engaging content for various platforms, leveraging insights from member visits, events, and industry research.
  • Travel to regional seminars and safety courses hosted or sponsored by CIRSA to communicate CIRSA’s offerings and benefits to members and potential members.
