About The Position

St. Paul Academy and Summit School (SPA) is seeking a BIPOC Recruitment and Retention Specialist to support its DEI Strategic Plan by developing and implementing strategic faculty recruiting programs. This role involves significant external outreach, building relationships with regional colleges and universities, and developing a network of educators and professionals familiar with SPA. The Specialist will collaborate with the Director of Intercultural Life and the Assistant Head of School for Academic Programs, focusing on recruiting and retaining BIPOC employees and managing the hiring and onboarding process for all employees. Reporting to the Human Resources Director, this position is crucial for supporting SPA’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. The ideal candidate is a creative, self-starting individual who can take initiative, adapt to the position's needs, and respond to feedback. They will be an integral part of the community across all divisions, supporting SPA's mission and thriving in a fast-paced, collaborative professional environment that values professional growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Three to five years in a recruitment position.
  • Human resources or other administrative skills/experience.
  • A collaborative style and approachable demeanor.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and trusting relationships with people from diverse identities and cultural backgrounds.
  • Effective cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Able to operate effectively in diverse environments and interact successfully with people from widely varying backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including ability to interact with employees at all levels in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Ability to travel, as needed, including a number of overnight trips.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, both independently and in collaboration with individuals and teams.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in decision-making and develop and implement plans in an organized and timely manner.
  • Knowledge of recruitment best practices, social media outreach practices on multiple platforms and automated applicant tracking systems and human resources information systems.
  • Demonstrated computer aptitude with knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google docs, Gmail and a willingness to learn new software.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in educational institutions and particularly independent schools is preferred.
  • SHRM certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive recruitment strategies for BIPOC teachers, including regional and national travel to colleges and universities and teacher job fairs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with a network of regional educators and professionals familiar with independent school teaching and SPA.
  • Organize and host open houses for local BIPOC educators and professionals.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Communications to develop and update teacher recruitment materials and website content.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Intercultural Life on strategic initiatives for DEIB recruitment.
  • Post all open positions on various websites, including those targeted to BIPOC candidates.
  • Perform general recruiting and recruitment planning as needed.
  • Manage the recruitment database.
  • Oversee current partnerships to build pathways of recruitment and retention.
  • Develop community-building events and assist with BIPOC retreats.
  • Oversee hiring practices, guidelines, policies, and protocols for all employees, developing hiring procedures for non-faculty hiring and adhering to the process.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state requirements.
  • Provide training to hiring committees and search committee members on diversity and inclusion in hiring.
  • Onboard employees through the human resources applicant tracking system.
