About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Melt Operations Manager to lead our Vacuum Arc Remelting (VAR) shop. You will be responsible for managing all melted product shipping operations and shop activities to ensure we meet delivery commitments, strict quality specifications, and financial goals. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader committed to safety, continuous improvement, and the professional development of their team.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of manufacturing experience (Required).
  • Proven ability to manage a 24/7 manufacturing operation, including responding to emergencies and working with back-shift personnel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting or moving of up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to wear a full-face air purifiying respirator.
  • Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment that may include moving mechanical parts and moderate noise levels.
  • Must provide proof of US citizenship, nationality, and/or permanent resident status to comply with applicable export and import laws and regulations (ITAR/EAR).
  • Completion of a background check and/or drug screening may be required as a condition of employment, in accordance with local laws and client requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • 4-year BS/Technical Degree (Highly Preferred).
  • Experience in metals manufacturing is highly preferred; specific experience with Titanium is a significant plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and experience with ISO9000 or statistical analysis is desired.
  • Manufacturing facility: 5 years (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Interview, hire, train, and supervise personnel.
  • Coach, evaluate, and discipline staff to maintain a high-performing team.
  • Partner with the Director of Operations to develop short- and long-term goals for production, safety, and quality.
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and melt profiles to maximize furnace productivity and product quality.
  • Review work order instructions, blend sheets, and chemistry reports to provide accurate direction to work crews.
  • Collect and analyze in-process data to ensure conformance to specifications and drive continuous improvement (6-S) efforts.
  • Develop and manage budgets to achieve cost goals and lead profit improvement programs.
  • Oversee a robust preventive maintenance program to maximize equipment reliability and minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Issue comprehensive weekly and monthly reports on key performance indicators (KPls), projects, and maintenance status.
