About The Position

Provides patient care activities under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or Licensed Practical Nurse. Assists patients with activities of daily living, provides personal care and comfort, and helps maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and residents.

Requirements

• Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant program, or listing as having passed CNA competency testing on the Iowa Direct Care Worker registry. May alternatively be certified as a medic or Combat Lifesaver through military duty, or have EMS certification as a base provider.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Code BLS; new employees must certify within three months after hire.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
• High degree of empathetic listening, tact, and kindness toward others.
• Effective verbal and nonverbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
• Technical and critical-thinking skills required to perform duties.
• Basic computer knowledge.

Nice To Haves

• High school graduate or GED.
• Previous acute or long-term care experience.
