About The Position

Versys, a leading company in industrial commissioning, construction, maintenance, and panel fabrication, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medium Voltage Cable Termination Technician. This opportunity offers the chance to join an elite team of medium voltage specialists working on a variety of projects across the United States.

Requirements

  • 2 to 5+ years of hands-on industrial electrical experience specializing in medium voltage systems.
  • Completion of a recognized electrical apprenticeship, trade school certification, or manufacturer-specific MV training (e.g., TE Connectivity/Raychem, 3M, or AVO training).
  • Valid OSHA 10/30-Hour and NFPA 70E compliance training.
  • Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, cable schedules, and wiring routing maps.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in tight spaces or heights, pass rigorous fit-for-duty physical exams, and submit to routine drug and alcohol screenings
  • Proficiency in MS Office software
  • 10+ years of commissioning / medium voltage experience
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driver's abstract
  • Successfully pass a drug and alcohol test
  • First Aid/CPR, OSHA 10, GHS, Defensive Driving, H2S Awareness
  • Eligible to work in the US
  • Availability to travel across the US as required

Nice To Haves

  • For offshore roles, BOSIET/HUET or equivalent marine safety certifications may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Operating and maintaining medium and high voltage systems
  • Commissioning, Testing, and Safe Energization of new Medium Voltage/ High Voltage Electrical Systems
  • Conducting DOBLE DGA sampling and HIPOT testing
  • Executing maintenance and tests on high voltage systems
  • Installs, terminates, splices, and maintains medium-voltage power distribution systems (typically 5kV to 35kV) that power heavy equipment like drilling rigs, pumps, and compressors
  • Supporting their commissioning and construction team during electrical and functional testing, start-ups, and troubleshooting of various equipment.
  • Prepare and terminate shielded MV power cables using heat-shrink, cold-shrink, taped, or pre-molded/separable connector technologies.
  • Connect cable ends to transformers, motor control centers (MCCs), ring main units (RMUs), and switchgear.
  • Accurately strip outer jackets, shields, and insulation layers, manage concentric neutrals, and apply stress-control components.
  • Perform pre-energization electrical tests, including insulation resistance (Megger) and high-potential (Hi-Pot) testing to verify installation integrity.
  • Locate and diagnose cable or termination failures in harsh industrial environments.
  • De-energize high-voltage systems, apply safety grounds, and strictly adhere to OSHA, NFPA 70E, and site-specific safety protocols.
