About The Position

The Medication Technician provides compassionate, quality resident care and services by assisting with medication administration and activities of daily living according to residents’ personalized service plans. The role includes documenting, delivering, and administering or assisting with prescribed treatments and medications safely and in accordance with company procedures, government regulations, and guidelines. The position also supports caregivers, maintains accurate and confidential resident records, tracks medication orders and refills, communicates changes in residents’ conditions, and responds to emergencies and resident requests. The technician helps maintain a safe environment and promotes teamwork, open communication, and MBK Senior Living’s values. This is a full-time role scheduled Tuesday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Certification or education required by applicable state regulations.
Must have or be able to obtain valid CPR and First Aid certification.
At least 1 year of prior related work experience in a similar healthcare role, industry, or work environment.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Must complete required background and health screening and provide negative TB test results within 7 days of employment; TB test must be from within the last 6 months.
Must be willing and able to manage and respond effectively to resident behaviors, including verbal and physical expressions, while maintaining a safe environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to read, write, and speak English and follow spoken and written directions.
Comfort with technology used to document medication passes, incidents, and notes.
Must meet and maintain all state-specific regulatory requirements, including medication certification and HIPAA compliance.
Ability to interact effectively and tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, and guests from diverse backgrounds.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
Ability to make sound independent decisions when warranted, remain calm, and manage stressful or emergency situations effectively.
Ability and willingness to work independently without day-to-day oversight and supervision.
Must display a positive and professional image consistent with MBK values.
Must be mobile and able to walk, bend, kneel, squat, pull, reach overhead, and perform repetitive motions.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push up to 250 pounds as necessary.
Ability to move throughout the workday, within the community, and between neighborhoods.
Ability to assist with residents’ physical movement during routine transfers and emergencies.

Nice To Haves

At least 1 year of experience handling medications; on-the-job training is available for candidates with the appropriate focus and desire.

Responsibilities

Assist residents with daily medications, treatments, and resident care as assigned and within the scope of applicable practice, policies, procedures, and government regulations.
Notify a supervisor when prescribed medication is not administered as directed and document the reason.
Maintain clear, accurate, complete, and confidential records concerning resident medication and care.
Track medication changes and refill orders, notify the pharmacy of new orders, and report missing medications to a supervisor.
Assist caregivers by carrying out responsibilities described in the Caregiver job description.
Document relevant information, including incident reports, and promptly report observed or suspected changes in a resident’s condition to a supervisor.
Respond promptly to emergencies, resident alerts, and resident requests as needed.
Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff, residents, and guests in accordance with established standards and procedures.
Comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and company policies and procedures.
Promote teamwork and open communication through mentoring, coaching, and recognition programs in alignment with MBK principles and values.
Perform other duties or special projects as assigned by the Director of Health Services, Executive Director, or designee.
