About The Position

The Medication Technician provides compassionate, quality resident care and services by assisting residents with medication administration and activities of daily living according to their personalized service plans. The role includes documenting, delivering, administering, or assisting with prescribed treatments and medications safely and in accordance with company policies, procedures, government regulations, and guidelines. The position is scheduled Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 5:00 AM to 5:30 PM. The Medication Technician also supports caregivers, maintains accurate and confidential records, responds to resident needs and emergencies, and helps maintain a safe environment. The role requires compliance with applicable regulations and company policies, teamwork, and professional communication with residents, families, guests, and colleagues.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Certification or education required by applicable state regulations.
Must have or be able to obtain valid CPR and First Aid certification.
At least 1 year of prior related work experience in a similar healthcare role and work environment.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Must complete required background and health screening and provide negative TB test results within 7 days of employment; the TB test must be from within the last 6 months.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to read, write, and speak English and follow spoken and written directions.
Comfort using technology to document medication passes, incidents, and notes.
Must meet and maintain all state-specific regulatory requirements, including medication certification and HIPAA compliance.
Ability to manage and respond effectively to resident behaviors, including verbal and physical expressions, while maintaining a safe environment.
Ability to interact effectively and tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, and guests from diverse backgrounds.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
Ability to make sound independent decisions, remain calm, and manage stressful or emergency situations effectively.
Ability and willingness to work independently without day-to-day oversight and supervision.
Must display a positive and professional image consistent with MBK values.
Must be mobile and able to walk, bend, kneel, squat, pull, reach overhead, and perform repetitive motions.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push up to 250 pounds as necessary.
Ability to move throughout the workday, within the community, and between neighborhoods, and to assist with residents’ physical movement during routine transfers and emergencies.

Nice To Haves

At least 1 year of experience handling medications; on-the-job training is available for candidates with an appropriate focus and desire.

Responsibilities

Assist residents with daily medications, treatments, and care as assigned and within applicable practice standards, policies, procedures, and regulations.
Notify a supervisor when prescribed medication is not administered as directed and document the reason.
Maintain clear, accurate, complete, and confidential resident medication and care records.
Track medication changes and refill orders, notify the pharmacy of new orders, and report missing medications to a supervisor.
Assist caregivers in performing their duties by fulfilling responsibilities in the Caregiver job description.
Document relevant information, including incident reports, and immediately communicate observed or suspected changes in a resident’s condition to a supervisor.
Respond promptly to emergencies, resident alerts, and requests as needed.
Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff, residents, and guests in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
Comply with federal, state, and local regulations and company policies and procedures concerning the department.
Promote teamwork and open communication through mentoring, coaching, and recognition activities aligned with MBK principles and core values.
Perform other duties or special projects assigned by the Director of Health Services, Executive Director, or designee.
