About The Position

The Medicare Data Entry Specialist enters prescription drug information from agent-submitted Medicare Supplement Insurance applications into a database using a web-based program. The specialist checks that medication names, original prescription dates, dosages, and frequencies are captured correctly and identifies missing, unclear, or problematic information. The role includes contacting agents by phone and sending electronic notices to resolve application issues and processing delays. The specialist may also help enter applications using the mainframe computer system.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Six months to one year of related experience, or at least one year of experience in an advanced clerical position using independent judgment.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals and written handouts.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively and efficiently.
• Reliable transportation and the ability to be punctual and dependable.
• Ability to work scheduled shifts, rotate schedules with other employees to meet department staffing needs, and work overtime as needed.
• Proven prescription drug knowledge.
• May have an agent license, but no active appointments.

Responsibilities

• Enter prescription drug information from applications into a database using a web-based program, ensuring drug names, original prescription dates, dosages, and frequencies are captured accurately.
• Recognize misspelled prescription drug names and assess dosage accuracy, using general knowledge of common medication uses.
• Make outbound calls to agents to obtain information that is missing or unclear in the prescription drug section of an application.
• Produce and send outbound electronic notices to agents about delays, problems, or missing information.
• Assist with entering applications using the mainframe computer system.
