About The Position

Responsible for safely transporting patients to and from medical appointments, assisting with boarding and disembarking, while prioritizing the comfort and well-being of passengers with mobility challenges. Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the mission and vision of the organization. Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures. Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self-education, attends ongoing educational programs). Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time. Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be HIPAA certified within 30 days of hire
  • Must be Modivcare driver certified within 30 days of hire and repeat training twice annually.
  • Must complete defensive driving course annually.
  • Excellent customer service skills

Nice To Haves

  • Additional languages preferred.
  • Prefer a candidate 21 years of age or older with a clean driving record
  • CNA certification preferred but not required
  • Active American Heart Association BLS certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Safely pick up patients and transport them to their medical appointments, waiting as needed until the appointment is completed before returning them to their home.
  • Monitor patient condition during transit and respond appropriately to emergencies.
  • Maintain a clean and safe vehicle, by making daily inspections, ensuring it is properly equipped with necessary medical supplies and accessibility features, following all traffic laws and regulations.
  • Help patients enter and exit the vehicle, including those using wheelchairs or walkers, securely fastening mobility aids within the vehicle.
  • Maintain clear communication with patients, caregivers, and dispatchers, documenting trip details including pick-up and drop-off times, patient information, and any special needs.
  • Conduct pre-trip inspections, report and vehicle issues and adhere to all safety protocols to ensure passenger safety.
  • Cleaning the vehicle, inside and out, is required.
