About The Position

The Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) seeks a Med Tech Manager to lead operations within the Anatomic Pathology Laboratory in the Animal Health Diagnostic Center (AHDC). This position combines technical expertise in anatomic pathology with leadership responsibilities that include overseeing laboratory operations, managing staff performance and development, and driving process improvements. The role also serves as a key resource and drives collaboration across faculty, staff, and external partners. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in histotechnology, clinical laboratory science, or related program with a minimum of two years of successful leadership experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Expert knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in anatomic pathology techniques and instrumentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively coordinate daily operations in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Effective communication and delegation skills with the ability to translate complex information into easily understood terms
  • Experience upholding compliance with an established quality assurance system.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position including but not limited to an ability to sit or stand for extended periods while performing lab procedures.

  • Forensic case processing, including forensic record keeping and chain of custody.
  • ASCP Histotechnology certification.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily Anatomic Pathology laboratory operations, workflows, staffing, equipment, and troubleshooting to ensure efficient diagnostic services.
  • Lead, train, and support technical staff while fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Perform and supervise specialized anatomic pathology diagnostic procedures and maintain technical expertise across all lab functions.
  • Manage quality assurance, regulatory compliance, audits, and continuous improvement activities to maintain laboratory standards.
