About The Position

UP Health System Marquette is seeking a Medical Technologist for the General Lab. This is a 1.0 FTE position with varied shifts and is part of the MAST union. The role involves performing diagnostic testing on patient samples to assist physicians in diagnosing and monitoring disease states. The Medical Technologist reports to the Director of Laboratory Services. This position is not directly involved in patient treatment or care. The role requires access to demographic, clinical, insurance, financial, and complete medical records. There is occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens, and regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood and bodily fluids, hazardous medications, and latex. Physical requirements include frequent sitting, computer/data entry, and equipment handling, with occasional standing, walking, and light lifting.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• Medical Technologist licensure through ASCP or AMT preferred (licensure must reflect education requirements).
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Valid driver license
• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP); ASCP or equivalent registry
