About The Position

The Medical Technologist Team Lead is responsible for controlling and utilizing supplies properly, assuring compliance with state, OSHA, FLOYD, and other agency guidelines. This role assures the competency of all testing staff and reviews and accepts responsibility for the accuracy of test results. The position requires technical knowledge of each supervised area, producing accurate results, and maintaining acceptable proficiency test scores. The Team Lead utilizes delta checks to follow up on significant changes in patient results, reviews quality control, and assures corrective actions are taken and documented. They utilize knowledge of instrumentation, perform maintenance and troubleshooting, and review pending lists at the end of the shift. Producing test results within established turnaround times and reviewing technical procedures annually are key responsibilities. The Team Lead refers abnormal results to the pathologist, nursing staff, or physician as required by policy and follows all Joint Commission, State of Georgia, and other regulatory guidelines and standards. They provide direction to staff to keep them on task, use allotted time and resources effectively, and perform technologist duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Registered Medical Laboratory Technician, ASCP.
  • Associate’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology.
  • At least five years’ experience in MLT/MT role.
  • Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Occasionally lifts and carries weight up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols with vision and hearing within normal range to respond to Code alerts and equipment alarms.
  • Work-related stress due to volume and time constraints with irregular working hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Registered MT ASCP preferred.
  • Bachelors degree preferred.
