About The Position

Provides direct patient care activities, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, in accordance with nursing care standards. The role is in the Post Operative Department, which provides pre-operative and post-operative inpatient care for patients undergoing specialty surgical procedures. Care focuses on pre-operative needs and post-operative treatment after phase I recovery through discharge.

Parkland Health Center is part of BJC HealthCare and provides inpatient and outpatient services at locations in Farmington and Bonne Terre, Missouri. Requirements

• Nursing diploma or associate degree in nursing.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• No experience required.
• No supervisor experience required.
• Ability to remain alert and work safely in a safety-sensitive position.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• Less than two years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Promote patient- and family-centered care in a healing environment.
• Educate patients and families about managing illnesses or injuries, post-treatment home care, and medication administration.
• Participate in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in professional development.
• Develop, implement, and document individualized plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team and the patient, family, or caregiver.
• Plan proactively and communicate the plan of care across the continuum of care.
• Use critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate patients’ physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
• Assess patient preferences and barriers to participation in care, including values and emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
