About The Position

This position oversees the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) Medical Support Assistant Services at the Mark O. Hatfield Clinical Research Center in Bethesda, MD. The role involves managing administrative and patient support operations to ensure clinical care and research activities run efficiently. The Medical Support Program Manager will supervise medical support staff, coordinate patient scheduling and records, ensure compliance with NIH policies, and improve workflow and customer service for patients, providers, and research teams. This role is crucial for the smooth operation of the clinical center, supporting high-quality patient care and medical research. The position is contingent upon award of contract.

Requirements

  • Authorization to work in the United States permanently without sponsorship.
  • A High school diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of (1) year of experience in a healthcare setting working directly with patients.
  • Basic medical terminology knowledge.
  • Experience managing similar programs.
  • Strong communication, staffing management, training oversight, customer service, and supervisory skills.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor staffing coverage and attendance.
  • Coordinate recruitment and onboarding.
  • Coordinate orientation and training.
  • Implement sign-in tracking systems.
  • Attend meetings with stakeholders.
  • Conduct performance evaluations.
  • Review and approving timecards.
  • Produce reports.
  • Support Medical Support Assistant functions as necessary, such as scheduling, patient admissions, patient records, and clinical support.
