About The Position

This is a full-time, 1-year contract position with the possibility of an extension, for a Medical Support Assistant (MSA) to work remotely. The MSA will be responsible for community care scheduling and consult management at the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center. Candidates must physically reside and work within 50 miles of any listed facility. The role involves day shift work, Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day within business hours. Onboarding and credentialing will take approximately 6 weeks.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 6 months of customer service experience
  • Typing speed of 50+ WPM
  • Basic medical terminology and computer skills
  • Strong written and verbal English proficiency
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, track, and follow up on patient appointments
  • Process community care consults and coordinate care with outside providers
  • Update patient demographics, insurance, and medical records in VA systems
  • Handle calls, voicemails, faxes, mail, and patient inquiries
  • Maintain clinic schedules, no-shows, and access reports
  • Support providers and care teams with scheduling and administrative needs
  • Resolve patient concerns and scheduling issues
  • Maintain HIPAA, privacy, IT security, and regulatory compliance
  • Meet productivity and quality standards
  • Work independently and resolve scheduling or administrative issues
