About The Position

Coho Consulting Group is seeking a dedicated Medical Support Assistant (MSA) which provides critical administrative and patient-facing support within a fast-paced clinical research environment at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center in Bethesda, MD. This role serves as a key liaison between patients, clinical staff, and support services, ensuring efficient scheduling, registration, and coordination of care while delivering exceptional customer service. MSAs support both inpatient and outpatient operations and may be required to float across departments to meet daily operational needs.

Requirements

  • Proof of US Citizenship is required to work on this contract
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a healthcare or patient-facing setting
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and staff, delivering professional and compassionate customer service.
  • Greet, check in, and guide patients through appointments and clinical processes.
  • Schedule, cancel, and manage patient appointments while maintaining accurate records and daily visit statuses.
  • Perform patient pre-registration, admissions, and outpatient registration in electronic medical systems.
  • Enter and maintain accurate patient demographic and clinical data (e.g., CRIS).
  • Assist patients with consent-related questions and provide general facility information.
  • Prepare, assemble, and manage patient medical records and visit documentation.
  • Support administrative functions, including reporting, data entry, filing, and meeting coordination.
  • Assist clinical staff with forms, consult preparation, and basic clinical support tasks.
  • Coordinate patient services, including interpreter support, transportation, travel authorizations, and lodging logistics.
  • Monitor and restock medical, office, and patient care supplies; maintain inventory and equipment as required.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures, patient identification protocols, confidentiality standards, and privacy regulations.
