About The Position

The Medical Secretary/Receptionist, as a valued member of the Community Health Centre - Kakabeka site, will be responsible for providing excellent customer service in a busy work environment. The successful candidate will have the ability to manage multiple tasks, respond efficiently when greeting clients and visitors in person and over the phone, and work effectively as part of a team. NorWest Community Health Centers is a community-based, non-profit organization funded by Ontario Health, emphasizing access to primary health care and prevention programs and services.

Requirements

  • Three to five years’ experience as a receptionist, preferably in a clinical setting or human service organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service, perform well under stress, and manage multiple demands and unpredictable delays.
  • Excellent organizational skills, judgement, diplomacy, tact and problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of and advanced level of proficiency with office management systems and procedures.
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A professional and friendly telephone manner and experience in dealing with the public in a mature, sensitive and helpful manner in person and by telephone.
  • Sound knowledge of medical terminology and high proficiency/accuracy in word processing and data entry skills.
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to health issues particularly within populations who face barriers to accessing care (under housed, living with mental health challenges or diagnoses, current or past substance use, complex health histories, 2SLGBTQIA+, newcomers, non-insured)
  • Post-secondary education in office or business administration, or an acceptable combination of education, training and work experience
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
