About The Position

The Medical Scribe is a vital member of the medical staff who assists physicians with the EHR system, using Ascribe to ensure accurate transcription of patient information. The role collaborates with physicians, operates the Epic EHR system, performs clerical duties such as charting provider appointments, and maintains accurate patient data in electronic files. The scribe anticipates physicians’ needs to support efficient, effective patient care in accordance with the organization’s core values.

Requirements

Previous scribing experience in an outpatient clinic.
Ability to accurately document patient care and transcribe patient appointments.
Detailed knowledge of medical terminology and ability to distinguish different exams and medical diagnoses.
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Good bedside manner and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience with electronic medical records.
Additional schooling in medical terminology.

Responsibilities

Assist providers in maintaining notes during patient visits and documenting them in the electronic health records system.
Support physicians during patient visits by capturing and transcribing medical information using the EMR system.
Work closely with assigned physicians to complete and submit patient encounter records in the system within the expected timeframe.
Document thoroughly and monitor basic lab results and screening procedures.
Communicate professionally and effectively with patients and physicians.
Perform duties and tasks that improve productivity and maintain clinic workflow, as assigned.
Adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
Assist with translation when necessary.
Perform clerical duties as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned.
