About The Position

Sun River Health is seeking a full-time Medical Scribe for their location in Brooklyn, New York. Medical Scribes are trained in medical documentation and assist physicians throughout their shifts to increase efficiency and productivity. The scribe will accurately document medical encounters into the Electronic Medical Record (eclinical Works) under the supervision of the VP of Practice Management. This role requires excellent customer service, adherence to protocols, and managing patient volume without compromising quality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Ability to capture accurate and detailed documentation of medical encounters into the Electronic Medical Record (eclinical Works) in a timely manner.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Adherence to established protocols and work processes.
  • Ability to successfully manage volume without compromising quality.
  • Proficiency in proofreading and editing medical documents for accuracy, spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
  • Understanding of legal and ethical requirements for preparing medical documents and maintaining patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Document procedures and treatments performed by healthcare professionals.
  • Communicate with patients, pharmacies, and physicians over the phone under physician guidance.
  • Accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician.
  • Ensure all clinical data, lab or other test results, and the interpretation of the results by the physician are recorded accurately in the medical record.
  • Facilitate necessary diagnostic tests and referrals to medical specialists for follow-up care when indicated.
  • Record patient medical history and physical exam details.
  • Collect, organize, and document data for physician quality reporting system and other quality improvement efforts.
  • Manage an average of three to four patients per hour.
  • Assist the physician with basic patient care and medical indicated procedures set-ups.
  • Communicate with clinical operations staff regarding patient needs and follow-up.
  • Proofread and edit all physician’s medical documents for accuracy, spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
  • Record physician-dictated diagnoses, prescriptions, and instructions for patient or family members.
  • Attend trainings on diverse subjects such as information technology, legal, HIPAA and regulatory compliance, billing and coding.
  • Comply with specific standards for medical records and legal/ethical requirements for preparing medical documents and maintaining patient confidentiality.
