About The Position

The Medical Scribe supports Oak Street Health primary care providers by managing clinical documentation so providers can focus on patient care. Scribes help prepare for the day’s visits, observe and document patient encounters in the exam room, and assist with follow-up steps. They serve as clinical documentation assistants, recording encounters in real time and helping ensure documentation is accurate, specific, and timely. Scribes also learn Oak Street Health’s value-based care model, chronic-condition documentation, ICD-10 and CPT coding, and how to identify and help close care gaps. Extensive on-the-job training is provided in clinical workflows, value-based medicine, preventive care for chronic conditions, documentation, population health data, and team-based care. The role is an opportunity for people pursuing medicine and related fields to gain paid clinical experience. Candidates should be able to commit to at least one year, with two or more years ideal. The position is full-time, in person at clinics, with predictable hours during clinic hours.
