About The Position

Jazz Pharmaceuticals is a global biopharma company dedicated to developing life-changing medicines for people with serious diseases, often with limited or no therapeutic options. The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based scientist within the US Medical Affairs organization, responsible for building and strengthening relationships with medical thought leaders. MSLs provide medical information through scientific exchange and clinical/scientific support for Jazz Pharmaceuticals and the Medical Affairs department. This specific role covers the Northeast region (NY, CT, RI, MA, NH, VT, and ME) and requires professionals with established credibility to interact with scientific leaders and healthcare providers.

  • Advanced degree (PharmD, MD, PhD or equivalent) with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in hematologic malignancies OR License (RN, NP, CNP, PA or equivalent) with a minimum of a Master’s Degree (or equivalent) and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in hematologic malignancies.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as an MSL or comparable industry or clinical role is required.
  • This is a field position and applicants must be willing to travel ~60% of time.
  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Understanding of regulatory requirements for field-based personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop peer-to-peer relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and healthcare providers within the hematology/oncology therapeutic area.
  • Develop and execute territory plans in alignment with US Medical Affairs plans.
  • Identify and communicate key clinical and research issues and insights from KOLs to appropriate departments.
  • Participate in medical education for healthcare professionals (HCPs) through on-site presentations, investigator meetings, national conferences, advisory boards, or regional meetings.
  • Provide support for additional field activities such as medical congress staffing and advisory boards.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the therapy area, Jazz products, new research, therapeutic barriers, trends, and the competitive landscape.
  • Establish reputation as a trustworthy and knowledgeable source of scientific and medical information.
  • Support Jazz Pharmaceuticals' positioning as a scientific authority in hematology/oncology.
  • Attend scientific congresses to stay abreast of developments and support KOL activities and Jazz interests.
  • Acquire a broad understanding of local and national protocols, standards of clinical practice, and disease management trends in the US.
  • Provide clinical presentations and information in response to unsolicited questions in academic, community, and healthcare provider settings.
  • Communicate emerging data and clinical experience with products through scientific exchange, discussing benefits and risks objectively.
  • Contribute to the development of the US Medical Plan and provide input into local strategies and tactics.
  • Manage relevant budget to enable execution of Medical Plan tactics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues to ensure a Key Account Management approach.
  • Interact with HCPs as a scientific resource to support activities aligned with the Medical Plan.
  • Maintain Company standards and Jazz Values.
  • Act as an advocate of medical advancement by using knowledge of product, disease state, and pipeline products to engage healthcare providers in scientific exchange.
  • Document and forward reports of adverse events and product complaints according to Jazz’s policy.
  • Adhere to relevant national and local Codes of Practice.
  • Behave ethically and with integrity at all times.
  • Act as an ambassador for Jazz Pharmaceuticals following company mission and values.
  • Keep own written development plan and implement.
  • Prepare timely reporting according to company needs.
