About The Position

The (Senior) Medical Science Liaison is part of Biogen’s US Medical Affairs team and supports medical practice across therapeutic areas and the pipeline to improve patient outcomes. The role engages Key Medical Experts (KMEs) and other healthcare professionals (HCPs) to communicate the clinical and scientific narrative for Biogen’s therapies. The territory covers Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine. The successful candidate must reside within the territory and be able to travel at least 60% of the time, including overnight and occasional weekend travel. The MSL builds strategic, long-term relationships with internal and external stakeholders, serves as a responsive and solutions-oriented partner to the medical community, contributes to initiatives aligned with US Medical strategy, and meets qualitative and quantitative medical excellence goals. The role develops and delivers KME engagement plans and accurately captures and reports medical insights in Veeva to inform medical and clinical strategies.

Requirements

Doctoral-level degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, or DNP) in a clinical- or scientific-related field.
Established relationships with HCPs and KMEs in the territory relevant to the therapeutic area.
Effective communication skills, including concise and credible communication, understanding other points of view, empathetic listening, and adapting communication to the audience.
Comfort using and experimenting with technology, adopting new tools and systems, and learning unfamiliar tools.
Accountability for delivering against goals and meeting or exceeding metrics and KPIs.
Understanding of industry rules and commitment to ethical conduct for the benefit of patients.
Ability to travel at least 60% of the time, including overnight and occasional weekend travel.
At least 18 years of age, with a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Authorization and ability to drive a company-leased vehicle or rental.
Must reside within the territory comprising PA, NJ, NY, CT, RI, MA, NH, VT, and ME.

Nephrology subject matter expertise, particularly in IgA Nephropathy (IgAN) and Antibody-Mediated Rejection (AMR).

Responsibilities

Engage KMEs and HCPs as a credible medical and scientific expert to support informed clinical decisions about disease states and Biogen products for the benefit of patient care.
Build deep, strategic, long-term relationships with internal and external stakeholders, serving as a partner rather than a transactional contact.
Respond to stakeholders, engage frequently, and connect the medical community with solutions and relevant leaders.
Participate in projects and initiatives aligned with US Medical strategy, objectives, and tactics.
Meet qualitative and quantitative medical excellence performance goals, standards, and measurements.
Deliver high-value KME engagement plans by coordinating relevant resources with field and non-field colleagues.
Capture and report KME and HCP medical insights in Veeva consistently and accurately to inform medical and clinical strategies.
