About The Position
The HIM Technician coordinates, assembles, and examines medical documentation to ensure complete medical records in accordance with recognized policies and procedures for legal compliance. This role processes all ROI (Release of Information) requests according to Cameron Health, state, and federal regulations, maintaining HIPAA compliance. Cameron Health is a 25-bed, independent, not-for-profit facility serving Angola and Steuben County since 1926. It has evolved into a modern, high-tech facility with advanced equipment, skilled specialists, advanced diagnostics, various specialties, and cutting-edge treatment options, all delivered with personalized and compassionate care.
Requirements
- High School Education or GED
- Previous experience in Medical Records or equivalent experience
Nice To Haves
- RHIT or RHIA certification
Responsibilities
- Performs daily analysis on appropriate patient records.
- Validates the correct assignment of the deficiency to the provider.
- Works with Medical Staff to ensure that the chart completion process is timely and efficient.
- Scanning of medical records accurately and correctly.
- Validates requests and authorizations for release of medical information.
- Handles all requests and inquiries for patient health information whether received via mail, fax, phone or electronically.
- Performs quality checks on all scanned images.
