Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent communication skills
1-2 years of experience in medical records handling or a related field.
Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA regulations.

Nice To Haves

RHIT or RHIA certification is a plus

Responsibilities

Oversee the filing, auditing, and production of medical records, maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and organization.
Process release of information requests promptly and efficiently, validating authorizations and adhering to HIPAA regulations.
Protect confidential patient information, ensuring only authorized individuals have access.
Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA and other relevant state and federal regulations.
Collaborate with attorneys and other external parties, following up on requests, providing accurate information, and ensuring timely delivery of medical records and bills.
Update patient accounts with current and accurate information, facilitating the collections process.
Manage a high volume of medical records, ensuring they are properly filed, scanned, and readily accessible.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Respond to inquiries regarding medical records with accuracy and professionalism, providing excellent customer service.
Generate ideas and contribute to the ongoing improvement of medical records processes, enhancing efficiency and accuracy.
