About The Position

Supports the maintenance, accuracy, security, and organization of resident medical records within a long-term care or skilled nursing facility. This role helps ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations regarding health information management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare confidentiality standards.
  • Strong computer, organizational, and data-entry skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in medical records, health information management, or long-term care.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems.
  • Familiarity with long-term care regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and organize resident medical records using electronic charting systems.
  • Ensure all resident documentation is complete, accurate, and filed promptly in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Scan, upload, and index documents into resident electronic charts.
  • Respond to requests for medical records from authorized individuals and agencies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of resident health information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist with record retention and destruction procedures according to facility policy.
  • Assists with answering and directing incoming phone calls professionally and courteously.
  • Completes all other duties as assigned.
