Medical Oncologist
About The Position
This is a locum tenens position for a Medical Hematologist/Oncologist at a facility in Redding, CA. The service setting is outpatient, providing supplemental coverage from ASAP until August 31, 2026. The role is clinical only, with shifts Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. The expected patient volume is 15-20 per day, with 15-20 admissions to coordinate with Hospitalists. Support staff includes 1 Clinic RN, 2 Medical Assistants, 2 Front Office Clerks, 1 Quality Analyst/Billing Specialist, and 10 Infusion RNs. The case mix involves Oncology/Hematology, covering all tumor types. The locum will be the solo provider and will utilize iKnowMed and Cerner EMR systems. Hospital privileges are required, with temporary privileges available.
Requirements
- Active CA License
- BC/BE in Hematology or Oncology
- Self-Query NPDB report
- DEA
- ACLS PALS
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, stage, and manage hematology and oncology conditions
- Provide precision medicine–based treatment planning
- Manage symptoms and oversee treatment for hematology/oncology patients
- Provide physician oversight for both the Oncology/Hematology clinic and Infusion Services
- Remain onsite in the Infusion Center during treatments
- Coordinate care with ER physicians
- Chemotherapy administration
- Immunotherapy treatments
- Blood and platelet transfusions

- Therapeutic phlebotomies
