About The Position

MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is an entity within the Medical University of South Carolina that provides healthcare to patients within the rural health network throughout the state of South Carolina. This role provides administrative coverage at the front desk of the Clinic, including monitoring the clinic appointment line for scheduling appointments for clients from outside medical, hospital, and correction systems. The position involves answering multiline telephones, taking payments from clients for clinical services, completing client registration and documentation, scheduling interpreters for clients, and retrieving billing charges. The overall goal is to ensure constant and efficient operations of the physician medical office, coordinating and participating in daily clinic preparation, patient identification, check-in/out, charge posting, cash management, and appointment scheduling. The role also includes customer service, message distribution, ancillary scheduling and preparation, and referrals management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency plus one year of patient care experience in a health care facility
  • Certified Nursing Assistant
  • Successful completion of a Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant course at an accredited institution or equivalent training
  • EMT or Paramedic certification
  • A Bachelor’s degree
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • 1 year of customer service experience

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to interpret and apply financial procedures and regulations
  • Previous experience with hospital information systems or word processing
